How Upgrades Work
Buddy Speed
Buddy speed operates on a tick system, similar to traditional fishing mechanics. Each tick represents a one-second interval during which your buddy attempts to catch fish. A certain number of successful ticks are required before a fish is caught.
Tick Success Mechanics:
- The base success chance for a tick is 1.2% (0.012).
- Each failed tick increases the success chance by 0.4% (0.004).
- Once a tick succeeds, the progress toward catching a fish is updated.

Buddy Quality is simpler compared to Buddy Speed. Each upgrade increases the chances of catching higher-quality fish, as well as the number of attempts to improve fish quality.
