Modern Warfare 4's TGS Trailer Sends a Fugitive Captain Price to Korea
Call of Duty's Tokyo Game Show campaign trailer reveals a disbanded Task Force 141, a Korean Peninsula invasion, and Mads Mikkelsen as the villainous Archer.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 used its slot in Xbox's Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast to debut a new campaign trailer, and it spends its two minutes making one thing clear: Captain John Price is no longer running the good guys. Task Force 141 has splintered, a North Korean invasion is tearing the peninsula apart, and a mysterious buyer known only as the Archer is closing in on a weapon that could tip the whole conflict.
The trailer premiered on the Call of Duty blog on September 17, the same day it aired during Xbox's Tokyo Game Show broadcast, and it is the clearest look yet at how Infinity Ward is following up Modern Warfare III's ending with a campaign built around a fractured Task Force 141 rather than a united one.
The Story So Far
Modern Warfare 4 picks up the thread left by 2023's Modern Warfare III, in which Task Force 141 brought down Vladimir Makarov but lost General Shepherd to an assassination along the way. That death is the hinge this new campaign turns on. Rather than opening with the team back together, Infinity Ward is starting the story with the team broken apart, its most senior operator now the one being hunted.
A Fugitive Captain Price
Following Shepherd's death, Task Force 141 has been disbanded, and Price is on the run for what the trailer frames as taking the law into his own hands. Ghost and Gaz are ordered to capture or kill their former captain, and the trailer treats their history together as an open wound rather than a formality.

CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell is the one thread keeping Price connected to any kind of official channel, though even she appears to be losing patience with his methods as the manhunt escalates and the stakes climb well past a single rogue operator.
Korea Under Siege
Away from the hunt for Price, North Korea launches a full invasion of the South, and Private Park Hyun Jun becomes the campaign's window into the ground war. Joint US and ROK marine units are shown fighting through trench lines and staging an amphibious landing, a setting Infinity Ward has never used in a mainline Modern Warfare campaign before. The developer has separately confirmed the campaign will also send players to close-quarters fighting in New York, a vehicle chase through Paris and an SAS night operation in Mumbai, positioning Korea as the flashpoint that pulls the rest of the world in rather than a self-contained detour.
Unlikely Allies
With his old command turned against him, Price recruits help from an unexpected source: Valeria Garza, leader of the Las Almas Cartel, known in the trailer as El Sin Nombre. She isn't shy about the arrangement. "Why sit on the high ground and watch the world burn when we can fight fire with fire?" she asks, setting up a partnership built entirely on necessity rather than trust, and one that puts Price further outside the chain of command he used to answer to.
The Archer's Weapon of War
Running underneath both storylines is the trailer's central threat: an unnamed weapon of war in transit to a buyer known only as the Archer. Laswell's warning is blunt: "You are moving a weapon of war. What do you think happens when that weapon gets to the Archer?" The trailer doesn't show the Archer's face, but the casting news accompanying its release confirmed actor Mads Mikkelsen in the role, giving Modern Warfare 4 its highest-profile antagonist yet and tying together the two halves of the campaign the trailer otherwise keeps separate.

Infinity Ward has been public about why it chose the Korean Peninsula for this chapter of the story. Studio head Mark Grigsby pointed to how far Korean culture has traveled globally as part of the thinking behind the setting, saying the team wanted a backdrop that would feel current rather than recycled from earlier entries in the series.
Release Window and Platforms
Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, Battle.net and the Microsoft Store. Anyone who pre-orders the Standard Digital or Vault Edition gets Campaign Early Access starting October 16, a full week ahead of the wider multiplayer and DMZ launch.
