Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's Season 1 Merges It With Warzone on November 6
Infinity Ward's first seasonal update lands November 6 with new multiplayer maps, a DMZ facility, Warzone integration, and a 100-tier Battle Pass.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is getting its first seasonal content drop two weeks after launch. Activision and developer Infinity Ward confirmed that Season 1 goes live on November 6 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2, bringing new multiplayer maps, a fresh DMZ location, and the long-promised merger of Modern Warfare 4 with Call of Duty: Warzone into one connected progression system.

Three maps at launch, two more mid-season
Multiplayer gets three new maps on day one: Backstab, Canyon, and a reimagined Shoot House set during a North Korean snowfall. Canyon ships with two alternate routes, Convoy Ambush and Cliff Path, that change how each match opens. Two new modes, Grind and Drop Zone, launch alongside them, with a third mode, Counter Attack, held back for the middle of the season. Infinity Ward is also saving two more maps, Ministry and Overflow, for that same mid-season update rather than front-loading everything into launch week.
The studio is adding two Battle Pass weapons at launch: the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and the CSG-35 submachine gun, which Infinity Ward describes as having the highest fire rate in its class.
DMZ gets a new black site
Modern Warfare 4's extraction mode, DMZ, expands with X01, a weapons facility built around tunnels, shifting environmental hazards, and extraction points that close as a raid goes on. Season 1 pairs the new location with DMZ Orders, a Threat Briefing system that surfaces boss-level Commander threats before players drop in, and Resupply Runs for restocking mid-raid. It is the first major DMZ location added since the mode launched with the base game on October 23.
Warzone absorbs Modern Warfare 4 - and leaves last-gen behind
The bigger structural change is on the battle royale side. Starting November 6, Warzone adopts Modern Warfare 4's content and seasonal progression, folding what had been two separately updated games into a single connected experience, as detailed in Activision's own rundown on the PlayStation Blog. Two new Warzone maps, Hajin and Zodiac, arrive with the integration, and a separate Warzone-specific roadmap is due out on November 2, ahead of the season proper.
That integration comes at a cost for some players: Season 1's launch ends Warzone support on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, pushing the free-to-play shooter fully onto current-generation hardware and PC for the first time since it debuted on last-gen consoles.

A Battle Pass built to forgive missed days
Season 1's Battle Pass runs across a 100-tier linear track with more than 100 unlockable items, including Operator skins, weapon blueprints, and finishing moves. Infinity Ward is also carrying over the catch-up system introduced earlier in the Modern Warfare 4 life cycle: premium Battle Pass owners who fall behind are automatically bumped up to whatever tier that day's progress should put them at, up to day 50, so a slow week does not permanently lock players out of later rewards.
What is still to come
Activision is deliberately staggering the reveal. The Warzone-specific roadmap lands November 2, four days before the season itself, and the publisher says further multiplayer and DMZ roadmap details are still to be published before launch. The base game, which arrived on Steam and other storefronts on October 23, has already run through a condensed pre-season of community playlists, including Shipment on October 27 and Possession and Infected modes rolling out this week, as a lead-in to the November 6 relaunch. Further seasonal updates for the series are typically detailed through Activision's own newsroom, which is expected to carry the next wave of roadmap posts, and background on the series' run is catalogued on its Wikipedia entry.
