Gran Turismo 7's Spec IV Update Lands Free Today With a 30th-Anniversary DualSense
Gran Turismo 7's free Spec IV Part 1 update adds six cars and Sportsland Sugo today, as Sony reveals a 30th-anniversary DualSense controller arriving in December.
Gran Turismo 7 players have two reasons to check in today: a free Spec IV update that adds six new cars and a returning circuit, and the first official look at a controller built to mark three decades of the franchise. Both arrived in a single PlayStation Blog post published October 14.
Six New Cars and the Return of Sportsland Sugo
Part 1 of the Spec IV update went live for all players starting at 11:00 pm PDT on October 14, which is 7:00 am BST or 3:00 pm JST on October 15, and it needs an internet connection to install. The headline additions are six vehicles spanning eras and categories: the all-electric Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept, a Ferrari F355 Berlinetta '94 and Citroën 2CV 6 Charleston '86 in the Used Cars lot, a Honda Civic Si Group A version '87 modeled on the Mugen Motul Civic that won the 1987 All-Japan Touring Car Championship outright, a Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo '26, and a Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line '23.
Alongside the new cars, Sportsland Sugo returns to the track list, paired with six new World Circuit events plus fresh Sunday Cup and Vision Gran Turismo Trophy races built around the update's new arrivals. The Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo '26 is the latest update to a racing version of the rotary-engined RX-Vision concept Mazda first displayed at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, a virtual-only GT3 car Mazda co-designed with Polyphony Digital exclusively for the series, while the Honda Step WGN Spada minivan gives Spec IV a deliberately unglamorous entry alongside its hypercars and homologation specials.

A Hypercar Built Around a Question of Drag Versus Downforce
The Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo is the showpiece of the update, the latest electric hypercar in Polyphony Digital's long-running Vision Gran Turismo concept-car program. Xiaomi Auto design head Tianyuan Li framed the car's central engineering tradeoff in blunt terms: "Do we pursue extreme low drag for straight-line speed, or maximum downforce to conquer corners?" The in-game model carries a 0.29 drag coefficient against -1.2 of downforce and a 4.1 aerodynamic efficiency rating, and it's sold through Brand Central rather than won through races. Gran Turismo's Vision Gran Turismo program has run since 2013, inviting automakers to design concept cars exclusively for the game without the cost or regulatory constraints of building a road-legal prototype, and Xiaomi Auto's entry continues a roster that has included Mercedes-AMG, BMW, Bugatti, Porsche and Toyota over the years.
New Car Viewer Tools and an Experience Mode
Spec IV Part 1 also adds new Car Viewer features, a new Experience mode, and additional Scapes photo locations, continuing Gran Turismo 7's habit of pairing new content drops with tools for players who treat the game as a car-photography and collection hobby as much as a racing simulator.
Celebrating 30 Years With a New DualSense Controller
Sony paired the update with the reveal of the DualSense Wireless Controller – Gran Turismo Limited Edition, a design built to mark 30 years since the original Gran Turismo. The pad wears a white body with black racing stripes, a textured carbon-fibre-style front plate, a "30" roundel, and a badge marking the series passing 100 million lifetime units sold worldwide in 2025. Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital, described the thinking behind the design in the same PlayStation Blog post.
“Thirty years ago, Gran Turismo began with a vision to share the beauty and joy of the automobile. This commemorative controller celebrates the journey we have shared together, and I am deeply grateful to everyone whose passion continues to inspire us.”Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital

Pricing and How to Pre-Order
The controller carries a recommended retail price of $84.99 in the US, €84.99, £74.99, or ¥12,480 including tax, though retailer pricing may vary, and it launches globally in limited quantities on December 10. Pre-orders open at 10:00 am local time on October 22: players in the US can order through direct.playstation.com, while players in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg can order through the PlayStation Store's hardware section. Sony has not said whether the controller will reach other regions after its initial launch window.
The Spec IV content, by contrast, needs no purchase at all. It's a free download today for every Gran Turismo 7 owner on PS5, PS4 and PS VR2.
