Monster Hunter Stories 3 Adds Xbox Play Anywhere Support Starting November 18
Capcom will let Xbox owners play Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection on PC at no extra cost from November 18, as the RPG series turns 10.
Capcom confirmed on October 7 that Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is becoming an Xbox Play Anywhere title on November 18, letting anyone who owns the Xbox Series X|S version play the same copy on Windows 11 PCs and compatible handhelds at no extra cost. The announcement, posted to Xbox Wire, lands the turn-based RPG a second PC storefront alongside its existing Steam release.
The game has been available on Xbox Series X|S since its worldwide launch on March 13 alongside PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. Play Anywhere support does not change that console release; it adds a parallel purchase through the Microsoft Store that unlocks the Windows and Xbox versions together, with save data, add-on content and achievements carrying over between devices.

What Play Anywhere Actually Changes
Xbox Play Anywhere is Microsoft's long-running cross-buy system: a single purchase through the Microsoft Store entitles the buyer to native versions on Xbox consoles and Windows 11 PCs, with cloud saves syncing progress between them. For Monster Hunter Stories 3, that means a player who buys the Xbox Series X|S edition on or after November 18 can also install it on PC without paying twice, and pick the campaign back up on whichever device is closer at hand.
It is a separate listing from the existing Steam version, which Capcom is not folding into the Play Anywhere entitlement. Steam owners keep their copy as-is; the new option is aimed at players who bought or plan to buy through the Xbox ecosystem specifically. The Microsoft Store listing prices the standard edition at $69.99, matching the Steam, PlayStation and Switch 2 editions.
A Decade of Monster Hunter Stories
The timing lines up with a franchise milestone: the original Monster Hunter Stories turns 10 years old on October 8, one day after the Play Anywhere announcement. Capcom is marking the anniversary with a Free Play Days promotion running October 22 through October 25, when both Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin are playable as three-hour timed trials on Xbox, with no Xbox Game Pass subscription required.

Twisted Reflection is the first entry in the spin-off series to reach Xbox at all; the first two games arrived on the platform only after the third game's development was already underway. That history makes the new Play Anywhere option less about this one release and more about Capcom treating Xbox as a full third home for the Stories sub-series going forward, alongside its established presence on Nintendo and Sony hardware.
What's Changed Since March's Launch
Twisted Reflection has kept receiving content since release. The paid Additional Side Story: Rudy expansion, following the Royal Palico who accompanies the protagonist, launched earlier this year and comes bundled at no extra cost with the Deluxe Edition, Premium Deluxe Edition and Deluxe Kit. A free Royal Monsters update also added a high-difficulty rematch against the final boss, unlocking tougher Royal variants of nearly every monster on the map, plus Royal Invasive Monsters and Royal Calamitous Elder Dragons for players who clear it.
None of that post-launch content is exclusive to one platform; it carries over into the new Xbox Play Anywhere entitlement the same way it does on Steam, PlayStation and Switch 2.
Where to Play It
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is out now on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and Xbox Series X|S, with the Xbox Play Anywhere option for Xbox and Windows 11 PC arriving November 18. A free trial version is also available on every platform, and progress made in it carries forward into the full game. Capcom has not said whether the Play Anywhere version will support Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch.
