PEAK Confirms Its PS5 Launch for October 22 With Full Crossplay Co-op
PEAK, the breakout co-op climbing game that topped five million sales, is coming to PS5 on October 22 with full PC crossplay and every update since launch.
PEAK, the breakout co-op climbing game from Aggro Crab and Landfall, is coming to PS5 on October 22. PlayStation's own blog made it official today, confirming crossplay with PC players and a version built from every update the game has received since its Steam debut.

From a Seoul Game Jam to Five Million Sales
PEAK started small. According to the announcement, the two studios met at a developer conference in 2022, then built the first version of the game together during a one-month game jam in Seoul in February 2025. They finished the project in Sweden that June, and PEAK launched on Steam on June 16, 2025. It sold more than a million copies in its first week and has since passed five million, turning a side project into one of the biggest co-op surprises of the year.
The premise is simple: up to four players climb a mountain together, and nobody wins if even one of them gets left behind. That rule, stated outright in the PS5 announcement, has defined the game's identity since launch.
What the PS5 Version Carries Over
Players climb through four distinct biomes, each with its own hazards: tornadoes, poison clouds, aggressive birds and, further up the mountain, zombies. Taking damage eats into a shared stamina pool, which pushes groups to scavenge food along the way rather than push through injuries alone. Sony's post confirms the PS5 release includes every content update PEAK has shipped since launch, among them the "Final Ascent" update from this past August.
Crossplay and Custom Runs From Day One
Rather than launching PS5 players into an isolated player base, Team PEAK built crossplay in from the start: groups of up to four can mix PS5 and PC players in the same climb. The PS5 version also keeps the run-customization options PC players already use to adjust hazard intensity and pacing, so returning players and newcomers can tune a session to their group's patience for falling off a cliff.

The ESRB Tipped Everyone Off First
The console release wasn't a complete surprise. Two days before Sony's post, the ESRB quietly rated a PlayStation 5 version of PEAK "Everyone 10+" for fantasy violence, which is how outlets first spotted the port coming. At that point Aggro Crab and Landfall hadn't said a word publicly, so the rating sat as an unconfirmed signal until today's blog post turned it into an official release date.
A Big Year for Both Studios
The console jump also lands at a strong moment for both teams. Landfall's catalog already includes the equally chaotic high-speed running game HASTE, and Landfall's own site lists PEAK among its flagship live titles rather than a one-off experiment. Aggro Crab, meanwhile, is fresh off Another Crab's Treasure and has already announced its next project, Crashout Crew, which ran a demo during Steam Next Fest this month. A successful PS5 launch gives the smaller of the two studios a second hit to point to, and gives Landfall a reason to keep supporting PEAK well past its first-year anniversary.
Neither studio has said whether PS5 sales will change how updates are paced going forward, but a console audience that size typically pushes a live game's roadmap further out rather than winding it down.
What Still Hasn't Been Announced
Today's post covers the PS5 release and its crossplay support, but it stops there. There's no mention of a launch price, no word on a physical edition, and nothing about an Xbox version, which fans have speculated about since PEAK first blew up on Steam last year. Any of that should be treated as unannounced until Aggro Crab, Landfall or Sony say otherwise.
For now, climbers on PS5 have a firm date to work with. PEAK arrives October 22, and anyone who has already lost friendships over it on PC can bring the mountain to a new set of players without starting their save history over.
