VOID/BREAKER leaves Early Access and Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School debuts day one on Xbox Game Pass, leading a packed first week of November on Xbox.

Xbox's first week of November doubles as a coming-out party for two very different games that have spent months building toward this moment. VOID/BREAKER, the solo-developed roguelite shooter that has quietly become one of Xbox Game Pass's best-reviewed Early Access experiments, sheds that label on November 4 and launches its full 1.0 version simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. A day later, Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School opens its campus to players for the first time, bringing the co-op puzzle series' first fully explorable hub world to consoles and PC day one on Game Pass.

VOID/BREAKER Leaves Early Access November 4

Developer Daniel Stubbington, working solo under the Stubby Games name, first put VOID/BREAKER into Early Access on Steam in August 2025. Publisher Playstack confirmed the full 1.0 launch date on October 1, pairing it with a release-date trailer that laid out what changes once the "Early Access" tag comes off: a finished campaign arc, new destructible environments, and the gun-modding system that let players rebuild weapons piece by piece during the test period.

The 1.0 build arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for the first time alongside its existing PC release, and it slots into Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on day one at a list price of $29.99 elsewhere. Anyone who already owns the Steam version, or buys in before launch, keeps a Supporter's Pack that bundles Joe Ford's original soundtrack at no extra cost.

Escape Academy 2 Opens Its Campus on November 5

Coin Crew Games built the original Escape Academy around single rooms and a timer. The sequel tears that structure down: Back 2 School is built around a connected campus players can wander between puzzle-room classes, with online and split-screen couch co-op carried over from the first game and a new optional No-Timer Mode for players who'd rather study the room than race it.

Publisher iam8bit confirmed the November 5 date and a PlayStation 5 version earlier this October, rounding the release out to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store, with Xbox Game Pass access from the first day.

A Packed Week for Xbox's Catalog

Both games lead a lineup of 32 titles Xbox detailed on its own Xbox Wire rundown for the week of November 2 to 6. The Game Preview build of the co-op sci-fi shooter GRAVHOUNDS lands November 2 with its own day-one Game Pass slot, and SEGA's Football Manager 27 opens PC Early Access on November 3, with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers getting the same early window as anyone who pre-orders outright.

Most of the rest of the week skews small: a run of XBOX Play Anywhere titles, several Smart Delivery releases priced under $20, and a handful of pre-order discounts on titles like Kingdom of Night and GeoJelly. It's a reminder that Xbox's November push isn't one blockbuster brand moment but a volume play, stacking two notable day-one Game Pass adds on top of dozens of smaller releases in the same seven-day window.

Why Game Pass Keeps Betting on Day-One Indies

Neither VOID/BREAKER nor Escape Academy 2 is a system-seller on paper, but both fit a pattern Microsoft has leaned on since trimming Game Pass Ultimate's price earlier this year: use day-one access to mid-sized, well-reviewed independent games to keep subscribers engaged between first-party tentpoles. VOID/BREAKER's jump from a cult Early Access following to a simultaneous PS5, Xbox and PC 1.0 is exactly the kind of graduation story Game Pass likes to publicize, while Escape Academy 2 extends a series that iam8bit says has already drawn more than four million players across its first entry and expansions.

For subscribers, the practical upshot is simple: both games are playable at no extra cost to a Game Pass membership starting the day each one leaves early access or ships, with no separate purchase required on Xbox platforms.
