GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT's First Gameplay Trailer Reveals Four Fighters and a Towering Boss
Com2uS's anime RPG debuts a 2:55 combat trailer at Tokyo Game Show, showing Rudo, Enjin, Zanka and Riyo battle their way toward a boss fight against Jabber.
Com2uS closed out its Tokyo Game Show 2026 slot inside Xbox's showcase with the first real look at GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT, the survival action RPG built from Kei Urana's manga and its Bones-animated series. The 2:55 trailer drops the game's earlier placeholder name, "Gachiakuta: The Game," in favor of a title Com2uS says is meant to capture "the idea of breaking through limitations and pushing forward despite whatever dangers stand in the way." It is also the first extended look at how the studio is translating the manga's junkyard setting and its scavenger cast into a playable combat system, rather than the logo-only teaser the project carried since its original announcement.

What the Trailer Shows
The footage opens on the Ballanche district's mountains of discarded refuse before cutting into combat, framing GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT as a squad-based brawler rather than a straight one-on-one fighter. Four characters from the anime's main cast, Rudo, Enjin, Zanka and Riyo, are shown fighting side by side, each carrying a weapon pulled from Urana's original designs rather than an invented game-only loadout. Attacks visibly interrupt and stagger enemies, and the trailer cuts between characters mid-combo to suggest players will swap between them rather than sticking to a single fighter for an entire encounter. The pacing is deliberately quick, with barely a second between reveals, which reads as Com2uS trying to pack as much proof of a working combat system into under three minutes as it can.
Four Fighters, Four Styles
Com2uS uses the trailer to sell variety as much as spectacle. Rudo swings a broom-like Vital Instrument in wide, momentum-heavy arcs; Zanka favors a bladed weapon suited to fast dodges and counters; Enjin and Riyo round out the group with their own distinct tools and pacing, each shown landing a signature move rather than a generic combo string. The game's official brand site, opened the same day as the trailer, frames the four as a starting roster rather than the full cast, with silhouettes of additional characters still to be confirmed. None of the four are shown using ranged attacks in the footage, which suggests the combat is being built around close-range positioning and dodge timing rather than the ability rotations common to other anime action RPGs.
The Jabber Boss Fight
The trailer's centerpiece is a boss encounter against Jabber, a towering figure built from fused scrap and debris that dwarfs the four heroes on screen. Rather than a scripted cutscene beatdown, the footage shows direct control passed to Zanka for the fight, dodging sweeping attacks before capitalizing on brief openings, the same read-and-punish rhythm that has become a genre standard for anime action RPGs since games like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. It is the clearest signal yet that Com2uS is building GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT around large, multi-phase encounters rather than only smaller enemy waves, and the scale of Jabber against the four-person party is the single biggest visual swing in the entire trailer.

From Page and Screen to a Survival RPG
Gachiakuta began as a manga serialized by Kodansha and was adapted into a TV anime that expanded its audience well beyond Japan; the source material's Wikipedia entry has the full publication and broadcast history for readers new to the franchise. Com2uS has not detailed a specific internal studio credit beyond its own name, and BREAKOUT remains its most ambitious swing yet at translating an ongoing anime property into a full-priced console and PC release rather than the mobile-first titles, like Summoners War, that the publisher built its reputation on. That shift matters for how the game gets judged: a 2:55 combat trailer now has to hold up against established genre leaders rather than against Com2uS's mobile catalog.
Release Window and Platforms
GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, where the game already has a wishlistable store page, with a global launch window of 2027 and no specific date yet attached. Com2uS has not said whether the four fighters shown in the trailer will make up the full starting roster or whether more of the anime's cast will be confirmed playable before launch, and both remain unconfirmed rather than ruled out. For now, the studio is treating the gameplay reveal and the new brand site as the start of a marketing push rather than the finish line, which tracks with a 2027 window still more than a year out and leaves plenty of room for a longer look before release.
