Grand Theft Auto VI: what Rockstar has confirmed for November 19

Rockstar's 19 November date has held since November 2025, pre-orders are open and a 26-minute in-game look is out. Here is what is confirmed, and what is not.

Grand Theft Auto VI is due on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games set that date on 6 November 2025 and has not touched it since. Roughly ten weeks out, pre-orders have been open since June, a 26-minute gameplay video is live on Rockstar's own YouTube channel, and Take-Two Interactive told investors in August that it is still building its financial year around a November launch.

The date, and the two times it moved

The current window is the third one the game has had. Take-Two's 2 May 2025 statement to investors confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI, "which was expected to launch in Fall of 2025, is now planned for release on May 26, 2026". That date lasted just over six months. On 6 November 2025, Rockstar published a short signed letter on the Newswire moving the game to Thursday 19 November 2026, apologising for the wait and saying the extra months would let the studio finish the game to the standard players expect.

Nothing has changed since. The official Grand Theft Auto VI site still reads "Coming November 19, 2026", the Microsoft Store listings for both editions carry a release date of 19 November 2026, and in its first-quarter results on 7 August 2026 Take-Two reiterated a full-year Net Bookings outlook of $8.0bn to $8.2bn on the back of that launch. A publisher does not reaffirm a figure of that size around a date it expects to miss, though that is inference rather than a guarantee.

What Rockstar has actually shown

Three videos exist, all of them on Rockstar's own channels. Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 — the latter released on 6 May 2025 — were followed on 27 August 2026 by Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which premiered on Netflix at 3pm ET and went up on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the official site at 9pm ET the same day. It runs 26 minutes and 49 seconds, and Rockstar states it was "captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5".

That is the single most substantial piece of official material available. Everything else in circulation — build leaks, claimed map dimensions, supposed feature lists — comes from outside Rockstar and should be treated as rumour. The studio's media and downloads page is the only sanctioned source of stills: 99 screenshots, three trailers and nine shorter clips, all downloadable, all released by the publisher.

The narrative premise has not changed since the first trailer. Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are the two playable leads; the setting is Vice City in the fictional state of Leonida; an easy score goes wrong and pulls both of them into a criminal conspiracy spanning the state. Rockstar's character pages also name a supporting cast including Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Brian Heder, Raul Bautista and Dre'Quan Priest, and the screenshot set covers locations well outside the city itself — the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga National Park among them.

“Rockstar Games will now release Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19, 2026, and we remain both excited and confident they will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience.”Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive

Editions, pre-orders and pre-loading

Pre-orders opened at midnight local time on 25 June 2026 and are live globally. The standard edition is $79.99; the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and adds a set of in-game vehicles, weapons, apparel and businesses threaded through Jason and Lucia's story, including a '95 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, a Shitzu Squalo and several mod shops and storefronts.

Every pre-order and every purchase made before 20 November 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack. Digital pre-orders also come with a free month of GTA+. Pre-loading begins on 12 November for digital buyers, and the physical release — a download code in the box rather than a disc — also goes on sale on 12 November so that boxed buyers can pre-load alongside everyone else.

Hardware and platform detail

The game carries a "Plays Best On PlayStation 5" badge on Rockstar's site. Sony's official feature page lists Tempest 3D AudioTech, DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, use of the controller's integrated speaker, SSD-backed fast loading and PS5 Pro enhancement. No resolution or frame-rate targets have been published for any platform.

Sony has also confirmed two limited-edition DualSense controllers in black and white, both with a colour-shifting finish and moulded palm-tree detailing, at $84.99. They were announced on 3 September 2026, went up for pre-order on 10 September and ship on 19 November alongside the game.

What is still unconfirmed

Three things are worth separating from the confirmed record. There is no announced PC version: Rockstar has listed only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and has said nothing about a later port. There is no announced online mode; Rockstar has described Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience, and the GTA+ month bundled with digital pre-orders grants access to the existing GTA Online, not to anything built for the new game. And there is no confirmed pre-launch hands-on programme, review embargo or launch-day patch plan.

Claims on any of those points, and any suggestion of a further delay, currently trace back to unnamed sources and social-media accounts rather than to Rockstar, Take-Two or a platform holder. Until one of those three publishes something, treat them as rumour. The verifiable position on 11 September 2026 is narrow and stable: a date set ten months ago, a price, two platforms, and 26 minutes of footage the studio put out itself.
