How to Turn On ARC Raiders' Updated FSR 4.1.1 and Fix Its RX 7000 Crash

ARC Raiders' Live Update 2.3.0 bumps FSR to 4.1.1 and patches a Radeon RX 7000 ray-tracing crash, right as the extraction shooter turns one. Here's how to turn it on.

Embark Studios shipped ARC Raiders Live Update 2.3.0 on October 27, two days before the extraction shooter's one-year anniversary on October 30. The patch is lighter on new content than past seasonal drops, but it carries a meaningful upgrade for PC players: an updated AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution plugin and a fix for one of the more frustrating crashes reported by Radeon owners. Here is exactly what changed, how to turn the new settings on, and what else is worth checking before your next raid.

A Live Update Arrives Right at the One-Year Mark

ARC Raiders launched on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 30, 2025, and Embark marked the anniversary with a thank-you post on October 30 that promises an in-game gift for anyone who logs in, plus a recap of the Frozen Trail season that arrived earlier in October. The studio says it is "already hard at work on what comes next," though no specifics were shared beyond that. Live Update 2.3.0 landed three days earlier, on October 27, and its patch notes describe a shift to a new maintenance cadence: smaller fixes roughly every three weeks, with lighter store rotations landing weekly in between. That is a change from the larger, multi-month season updates the free-to-play extraction shooter shipped through most of its first year, including the Flashpoint and Riven Tides content drops earlier in 2026.

None of that changes how you actually play, but it is useful context for why this particular update reads more like a maintenance pass than a new season. The interesting part for anyone still raiding a year after launch is buried under the stability section.

What Changed: FSR 4.1.1 and the RX 7000 Fix

The headline technical change is an update to AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution plugin, now at version 4.1.1. Embark's notes list it under Performance, alongside a specific stability fix: a workaround that mitigates a ray tracing related GPU crash on AMD RX 7000 series GPUs. That crash had been one of the more commonly reported issues among Radeon owners trying to run ARC Raiders with ray tracing enabled, so anyone who disabled the setting to avoid it can try turning it back on now.

The update also trims Xbox Series S audio memory usage to head off out-of-memory crashes on that console, and reduces memory use on the game's Frigate map to fix rare crashes there too.

How to Turn On FSR 4.1.1 in ARC Raiders

The FSR version bump applies automatically once you have downloaded Live Update 2.3.0, so there is no separate toggle for "4.1.1" specifically. To make sure you are getting the upscaling benefit:

  • Launch ARC Raiders and open Settings and then Graphics.
  • Set Upscaling to AMD FSR if you are on a Radeon GPU, or leave it on your platform's default, NVIDIA DLSS or Intel XeSS, for other hardware.
  • Choose a Quality preset; Balanced is a reasonable starting point on mid-range Radeon cards, with Performance available if you need more headroom.
  • If you own an RX 7000-series card and previously turned Ray Tracing off to avoid crashing, switch it back on and test a few runs through the Spaceport or the Blue Gate before trusting it in a live raid.
  • Confirm the game is fully updated by checking the version number in the main menu against 2.3.0 before reporting any remaining issues to Embark.

System Requirements and Handheld Considerations

Players tuning settings on a lower-end PC or a handheld should start from Embark's official minimum spec on the Steam store page: a Core i5-6600K or Ryzen 5 1600, 12GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti-class GPU. The recommended tier moves up to a Core i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of RAM and an RTX 2070 or RX 5700 XT. Both tiers list a broadband internet connection as a requirement, which matters on a handheld: ARC Raiders has to stay connected throughout a raid, so Wi-Fi stability is as important as frame rate once you are out in the field.

Players on lower-power hardware should pair the new FSR build with a lower resolution scale rather than relying on upscaling alone. Embark's notes do not mention a frame generation option in this update, so anyone chasing a higher frame rate on an older card or a handheld will still want to lean on resolution scale and shadow quality first, then layer FSR on top once the base frame rate is stable. On a 12GB-RAM minimum-spec machine, dropping texture streaming pool size down a notch before touching anything else tends to free up the most headroom, since ARC Raiders streams fairly large environment textures as you move between the Spaceport, the Buried City and the other raid maps.

Anyone switching between a desktop rig and a handheld mid-week should also double check that both installs actually pulled Live Update 2.3.0; a Steam client left idle does not always refresh the moment a patch goes live, and the in-game version number in the main menu is the fastest way to confirm you are not still running the pre-2.3.0 build with the old FSR plugin.

Other Fixes Worth Knowing About

Live Update 2.3.0 is not purely a performance patch. It also increases the Heavy Shield's base charge from 80 to 90, raises Flame Spray's damage per second while cutting its durability drain in half, and lets players use an Adrenaline Shot at maximum stamina rather than wasting the item. Loot distribution in the Emperor and the Frigate now favors higher-tier rewards deeper into each location, and six weapon blueprints can now drop under any major map condition. The update also disables the Expedition Vault, converting existing purchased slots into Bronze Statuettes and moving their contents into the stash. None of the gameplay changes affect how the upscaling settings behave, but they are useful context if a smoother frame rate suddenly has you surviving fights you used to lose. Embark, the Stockholm-based studio behind the PvPvE extraction shooter, has kept ARC Raiders on roughly the same two-week-to-monthly patch rhythm since launch, so this is unlikely to be the last settings-relevant update before the end of the year.

What's Next

Embark has not detailed its next content update beyond saying more is planned, and the studio's new three-week fix cadence suggests the next patch should land in late November. For now, Radeon RX 7000 owners have a legitimate reason to re-enable ray tracing, and anyone who has not opened the graphics menu since launch has a good excuse to do it again.
