Frontier's Jurassic World Evolution 3 Adds Prehistoric East DLC and Free Update 1.5

Frontier Developments has launched Jurassic World Evolution 3: Prehistoric East today, 29 September, adding five new dinosaur family units and a wave of East Asian-inspired scenery to the dinosaur park sim. The paid pack releases alongside Free Update 1.5, which is available to every owner of the base game at no extra cost.

Prehistoric East is priced at £11.99 / $14.99 / €14.99 and is available now on every platform Jurassic World Evolution 3 already ships on. Frontier bills the pack as a chance to "bring a sense of wonder to your parks," and it arrives as a mid-sized paid addition rather than a full expansion, similar in scope to the studio's earlier Crocodilia Coast pack for the game.

Five New Family Units

The headline addition is a set of five family units drawn from East Asian fossil sites. Two are peaceful herbivores: the feathered therizinosaur Nanshiungosaurus, described by Frontier as "a gentle giant among other species," and the heavily armoured Gobisaurus, a slow-moving ankylosaur suited to guest feeding encounters.

• Nanshiungosaurus - a plumed therizinosaur with a long neck and recurved foraging claws
• Gobisaurus - an armoured herbivore from the Gobi Desert's fossil beds
• Yangchuanosaurus - a Jurassic-period apex predator with distinctive tusk-like teeth
• Tarbosaurus - a roughly 10-metre, five-tonne relative of Tyrannosaurus rex
• Sinosauropteryx - a small, fluffy-looking carnivore that Frontier warns guests to "admire from afar"

Tarbosaurus and Sinosauropteryx previously appeared in Jurassic World Evolution 2, but both return in Prehistoric East as full, rebuilt family units rather than reused assets. Yangchuanosaurus and Gobisaurus are entirely new to the series, joining Nanshiungosaurus as the pack's most novel additions. Frontier says the Yangchuanosaurus also ships with several pattern and colour options for its synthesis system, giving managers more visual variety than a typical single-skin theropod.

East Asian Scenery and Holographic Statues

Beyond the dinosaurs, Prehistoric East brings a themed scenery set built around bronze dragon statues, marble guardian lions, paper lanterns and lotus flowers for guest plazas. New wall, roof and trim pieces are paired with ready-made blueprints for pagodas, gates and walled gardens, letting park managers build entire themed zones without placing every piece by hand.

The pack also introduces holographic statues to Jurassic World Evolution 3 for the first time. Each hologram can be placed around a park and cycles through a selection of dinosaur animations, giving managers a decorative option that doesn't require housing a living animal. Frontier positions the set as a way to dress up plazas, garden paths and entrance areas without competing for space with enclosures, since the statues take up far less room than a full paddock.

The studio has released individual gameplay trailers for most of the pack's dinosaurs in the days leading up to launch, each focused on a single species in its finished habitat rather than saving every reveal for launch day itself.

Free Update 1.5 for Every Player

Update 1.5 ships the same day and applies to every Jurassic World Evolution 3 owner regardless of whether they buy Prehistoric East. Its centerpiece is a new Walkway Attraction, which lets managers route guest paths directly over land, enclosures and water features such as lagoons and aviaries. The update also returns Carcharodontosaurus to the roster as a full family unit, free of charge.

Frontier has continued to pair its paid Jurassic World Evolution 3 packs with a free update at the same time, a structure it also used when Crocodilia Coast launched alongside Update 1.4.1 in August.

More Reveals Still to Come

Frontier first teased Prehistoric East on 22 September with a brief look at Nanshiungosaurus, then published individual gameplay trailers for each of the pack's dinosaurs over the following week. The studio says it will keep revealing additional details on the species included in the pack over the coming days via its official Jurassic World Evolution channels.

Jurassic World Evolution 3: Prehistoric East and Update 1.5 are both live now on PC via Steam and on the console platforms the base game already supports.
